Dreamhack Open Atlanta 2018 Playoffs Picks

By:

As you all know, Dreamhack Open Atlanta 2018 is in full fledge with the last decider match between Rouge and Vitality finishing off with style. As 4 remaining teams go for a rest before the big day tomorrow, we got a night full of game talk ahead of us. First of all, I’d like to state the obvious – Ghost Gaming and Vitality look to be the fittest teams thus far at DreamHack Open Atlanta. Yes, they’ve played against each other in the group stage, and yes it was a great match. In fact, Ghost Gaming was so impressive that bookies went from +750 to +137 on Ghost outright winner bets. They are followed by Team Vitality at +200 and then compLexity and Luminosity at +400 and +500 respectively.

But, before winning it all, Ghost Gaming has to go through Luminosity which, to the surprise of many, managed to snatch a spot in the playoffs. On the other side of the bracket, we have compLexity squaring up against Team Vitality. My oh my, both of these matches are going to proper nailbiters, I can already feel it. Especially for us seasoned bettors who live for these sorts of second-tier tournaments.

DreamHack Open Atlanta 2018 | Where Can I Place Bets?

While talking about betting, why don’t we start off by listing out the bookies that have the highest odds for Dreamhack Open Atlanta 2018 playoffs:

DreamHack Open Atlanta 2018 Playoffs Picks | Semifinals

Semifinals Match #1 – compLexity vs Team Vitality

For those of you who don’t know, Team Vitality is one of the freshest CSGO teams out there. Their CSGO team was created on 8th of October when they signed NBK-, Happy, apEX, RpK ZywOo with faculty as their main coach. However, just 2 days before the start of this tournament faculty departed from the team, leaving them with a fresh would for the upcoming tournament. However, players didn’t let that phase them too much. Sure, they lost the opening match against North but pulled themselves back together to secure a spot in the playoffs. Mind you, beating Fragsters and Rogue 2-0 is no small feat for such a young team.

compLexity players, on the other hand, must be in a pretty dim mood after failing to qualify for both ESL Pro League Season 8 and ECS Season 6 Finals. Obviously, they weren’t exactly the favorites to qualify for either of those tournaments, but CSGO is a game which you play to win. I’m sure that’s the mindset compLexity players have in every single match they play. On a brighter note, Vitality has been pretty consistent lately and that’s exactly what we’ll be discussing right down below in the Recent Form section!

Recent Form
Vitality is on quite the run. They won 4 out of last 5 matches. Thus far in November, they are 8 for 2 which is a score that speaks for itself. compLexity, however, isn’t nearly as successful as their upcoming opponents. They’ve played a total of 22 matches in November but they ended up losing more than half. 14, if I am to be more precise here. Considering the number of matches played, I’d say these guys are pretty tired too. That’s something you should also think about before placing your money on them.

Last Time Out
Considering the fact Team Vitality is less than 2 months old, it’s not a surprise for this to be their first ever head to head match. It might even go down in history books, who knows…

compLexity players must be exhausted. Playing 22 matches in 17 days must take a huge toll on them. And I am not just physically but psychically too. Furthermore, this Vitality team is looking absolutely sick. They’re stomping everything and everyone in their way, losing only to Ghost and Valiance (on overtime) during the course of this month. Combine all those reasons and you’ll surely agree with me on this one – vitality at -163 looks a lot better than compLexity at +120.

Semifinals Match #2 – Ghost Gaming vs Luminosity

Let’s continue our DreamHack Open Atlanta 2018 playoffs picks with the second semifinals match! One thing is for sure – this one will be even more interesting than the first. Ghost Gaming vs Luminosity, 2 NA teams that have been at each other’s necks for quite some time now. Ghost Gaming is considered a higher tier team than Luminosity by all standards but it’s definitely going to be interesting to see whether or not they can cement that statement tomorrow.

Recent Form
It has to be said that Ghost is on a 3 win streak, defeating Team Liquid, Vitality and Rogue (last 2 wins were during this tournament). On the other hand, Luminosity lost 3 maps against eUnited, 2 on ESL Pro League S8 NA and 1 during this tournament. However, yeL and others managed to pull themselves back together and win 2 bo3 matches against Envy and eUnited to snatch their spot in the playoffs.

Last Time Out
The last time these 2 teams went head to head was less than a month ago. ESL Pro League Season 8 NA was the occasion and Ghost snatched both wins pretty easily. Koosta and WARDELL dominated their first match, accumulating close to 50 kills just between the two of them. Steel, on the other end of the table, was doing everything he could, even ending up with 17 kills and best KDA in his team. However, that wasn’t enough for the Brazilians. The second match went in the same direction – Koosta and WARDELL were dominating yet again. Thanks to smart plays, well-timed (and well-synchronized) retakes, and rotations, nothing could’ve stopped in-form North back then!

Now comes the fun part! I already said how nothing could stop North back in their last head to head matches so I believe nothing can stop them from winning this one as well. Their roster looks stronger, their form is still improving so I believe they are the right choice to go with here. Bookies have them set at -225 which doesn’t seem too bad considering all circumstances.

DreamHack Open Atlanta 2018 Playoffs | What About The Overall Winner?

Ahh, the winner… Since I already told you which teams I believe will play in the grand finals, I might as well tell you which of them will win the darn thing! Well, undoubtedly, Ghost and Vitality is the grand finals everyone wants to see at this point. After a fine match early on in the group stage, the grand finals stage feels like it’s already been set for them. If my predictions turn out to be true and these 2 teams overcome their semifinals’ obstacles, then I’d give Ghost Gaming the advantage to capitalize once again.

And it’s not because of the first match. Sure, that match can be used as a reference to potential bettors, but what’s more important for me is Vitality’s experience. Let’s face it – they just don’t have it yet. We are talking about a team that’s just 2 months old (or should I say young?). Despite having 2 major winners in their squad alongside a young superstar, team cohesion and experience is what wins these types of matches. There’s a lot on the line and I believe this Ghost team has what it takes to repeat their group stage win.
